Landscape timbers getting smaller....

Have any of you noticed that landscape timbers are smaller nowadays. THey are still 8 foot long but less diameter.

I wondered if this was a temp thing or the way things are going to be. I went to menards and noticed this then headed to home depot...same thing.

I've noticed this for several years, actually! The "largest" (in diameter) I can buy now are definitely smaller than the first ones we bought (years ago!!). And there are some out there that are even smaller yet!

Last summer we thought there was a great sale at Menards, and went to pick up a bunch to replace some REALLY old ones. We got to looking and they were WAY smaller than even the newer ones we bought early in the summer, which explains the great price. But, even more disturbing was when we read in the fine print on the sign that these small timbers were only guaranteed for ONE year!! And they claimed to be pressure treated! I wonder how many people bought those?

Lowes has the old style, I noticed Home Depot and they also were much cheaper as they were a lot smaller.. I was going to buy some for a small bridge but decided against it....

I have 20 laying in my yard that have bowed way out. Can't use them for nothing.
