Some of you may remember an earlier post of mine about feeling sort of lost since our house is nearly finished (after 20 years of building):
House Nearly Finished...Bittersweet
Apparently I'm not the only feeling that way. You see, a couple years ago we purchased 30 acres about 20 miles from here (takes us about 2 hours to go that 20 miles). It's 3 remote patented mining claims, all connected into one property. It's at 11,500 feet elevation and we spend a lot of time there year round, 4 wheel drive in the summer and snowmobile access in the winter.
Before starting our home (1989, I think), dh and his Dad built a cabin about half way between home and the mining claims. It's a wonderful little cabin used by his whole family. They built it stockade style, except for the added on porch, out of D logs. It's 20x20 over a walk-out basement.
Anyway, now that our house is basically finished, he's sort of wandering around wondering what to build next. He is talking about us building a cabin on our place, within the next 2-3 years. We have a little storage shed there now, to keep our camping gear in, along with some emergency supplies. A real cabin there would be wonderful.
At this point, it may or may not happen, but our heads are full ideas right now. So if anyone has a great little plan for a 600 sq ft cabin (minimum building size allowed by our county), I'd love to see it. Also would like to see your small cabin pics.
Just wanted to share the good news and a few pics for my fellow cabin lovers.
Here's the cabin dh and his Dad built.
Here's a shot of our place that I took last weekend. Just starting to green up and still snow banks in the timber. Can you see our little shed? Hint: green roof.
