Smile I Need Dress/Skirt Patterns for Summer

The thread about what do you wear on the homestead got me thinking about sewing some very lightweight dresses for this summer. I love the gauze type fabrics- so thin the air passes right through. I had a couple of sun dresses I got at yard sales but they have been worn to rags. What I like is not in style anymore I guess, because I never see simple sundresses in stores.

Are there any free pattern places online? I'm looking for a sleeveless dress, loose fitted, scoop neck maybe, some big pockets and long skirt.

Maybe I should go for another country drive--- theres a scarecrow in someones front yard with a dress on that I LOVE!!! Ha haha.:banana02: MAybe shes got the pattern....

You may get more responses in the sewing / quilting forum, in case you don't get the response you want here

also, can you carefully take apart the dresses you like, iron them and use them for a pattern?

You do sew reasonably well, don't you.

You can also take a top pattern you like and just add the skirt to it. If it is the light weight fabrics gathering in enough for fullness shouldn't be much of a problem.

I love that it has only 4 pieces and all you have to do is hem and you are done.

You will have to add pockets as they aren't on the pattern.

Try Burda Style, they have alot of nice free patterns and tutorials for sewing. I have downloaded and used a bunch of them and they turned out pretty nice. http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns

Thanks all,
The 2 that I loved so much got recycled into the rag bag before I realized I wasn't going to be able to find anymore. I can sew pretty well, I have even made some of my own patterns for my kids clothes. I just want the convenience right now of grabbing the pattern and having something wearable in an hour or two. I'm having trouble finding enough hours in a day right now! So fast easy and done is the theme..... I'm going to look at that pattern Kmac15 posted, Kathy
