Marion/Baxter co, AR - ? about fabric

Is there anywhere to buy fabric to make clothes in either county? Do the Wal-marts still have fabric? I am looking for fabric to make clothes, not necessarily quits, (have plenty of quilts) even though I do make a few things to wear from 100% cotton.

We will be driving through that area this summer and I thought I might buy some fabric while on the trip, hence the questions. Thanks to locals who can inform me.

The Walmart in Flippen, Marion county, has a decent fabric department and I'm pretty sure there is an independent fabric/sewing shop in the town of Flippen, heading out towards the lake. Don't know about Baxter - that's the Mt. Home area and I don't go up that way too ritzy for me!

Thanks, goatlady

A lot of Walmarts close the fabric department when they "remodel". Good to know there is fabric available.

Mountain Home Walmart has a fabric shop in it. There is another one just outside of Flippin It is called the Curiosity Shop Hyw 62 east Flippin phone number is 870 453 5300. If you are going to be in the area there is one at Batesvillie it is called Marshall Dry Goods. That is the best place anywhere around. MarshallDryGoods.com Phone Number 1 888 744 8277. My wife is a quilter and we go over there to buy fabric at 1/2 the price of Walmart.

Our closes Walmart had faded the fabric store out. Now there is nowhere close by to be able to buy fabrics as all the mom and pop fabric shops have shut down due to walmarts low prices.

Anyone wanting to buy fabric in the future may have to buy it on-line somewhere.

Enjoy it while you can. According to this article, WalMart is definitely planning to phase out all department sections and cut way back on the crafts, not that they have much now!

http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2009/05/25/wal-mart-to-have-fewer-toys-in-cleanup-campaign/?icid=main|main|dl8|link5|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walletp %20op.com%2Fblog%2F2009%2F05%2F25%2Fwal-mart-to-have-fewer-toys-in-cleanup-campaign%2F

Sorry, don't know why that didn't make a link, it's always worked before. But if you paste that address into your browser it will take you there. Basically, they're talking about WalMart's new "image" and how they're doing away with all the low selling items and trying to change to more upscale items.

We already have that store. It's called "Target."

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think that's exactly who they're trying to imitate, Tar-zhay, but I just can't find any way to make WalMart sound snooty, lol. In the meantime, they're driving away their biggest customer base, the low-income and small town shoppers, and I don't think many Target customers are going to leave and go to WalMart just because they make a few improvements. Oh well, guess they can afford to take the hit, it's not like they've cared about their customers in years anyway.
