Rain keeping you out of garden? Flotation tires.

Have the spring rains been keeping you out of your garden?

Would flotation tires help? Just uploaded this photo to my Photobucket album showing such.

That is my daughter when about 7 years old.

Back when that was taken the cost was WELL over $2000. The only thing lacking on that rig is a big ol' V-8 with swept back chrome exhausts coming out each side. That would make it a mean looking machine for certain.

The tires are what were used on commercial spray rigs.

Don't know about swimming/floating with tires like that but might need some ballast down below to keep it upright.

Sure would like to have one for parade duty.

You'd need the arms of Popeye to turn the beast.

Drive that across a muddy garden, and you could forget gardening for the rest of the summer. <>UNK

Doubt you could even drive it across a muddy garden. The owners told me that because of the extra circumference of the tires even in low gear the tractor could barely pull itself, especially at slow parade speeds which it was intended for. Add some mud resistance and weight and it would probably be a no go.

I agree about the potential damage to the soil profile if it were driven across the site. Same as roto-tilling when it is too wet. My soil is quite sandy and I can quickly tell if I have tilled it a little too wet. Even walking across a wet garden does damage more than people realize.
