I posted this before in the computer forum but. . .

Anyone else have/had problems with Firefox (under vista) stopping working and not starting again until you reboot? Once this happens IE usually won't work either.

If so how'd you fix it? Its driving me even more nuts than usual.

First thing I'd look at is a virus problem. Does it hang or just refuse to load?

watcher, I have that problem too. That's why I don't use firefox, I haven't been able to figure out a fix. I also have Vista. I do not have any viruses on my laptop.

Not a virus, scanned twice a week. Not spy/ad ware, scanned twice a week. Not a firewall issue, tried two different firewalls.

It doesn't hang or anything. I'll be happily surfing along then suddenly when I click on a link or try to open a bookmark I get the "I'm doing something" display but nothing loads. Some times it will just sit there spinning along and other times it will give me the 'probablem loading page' page.

Also some times after closing Firefox when I try to reopen it I get a msg that Firefox is already running. When I do the old three finger salute it shows Firefox is running but I can't end the program.

This a real pain because it happens some times after I have typed in a reply and click post reply.

Vista stinks. I hate it. It came on the other (new) computer that I use only if forced to.

It boogers up everything.

When you open google.com, the cursor runs across the address line or the box where you type in your search.

It makes a rattly dinging noise as it runs, and the computer is semi locked up.

Vista stinks.

I was having that same problem. It seems to be resolved now. Do you have service pack 1 and all current updates installed (control panel - system)? Also make sure your Firefox is up to date. Mine is 3.0.10.

Vista is much more likely to be the culprit than Firefox.
