We keep about three hens for eggs. We have a smaller portable chicken coop we move around the yard every few days. Things have been really wet with all the rain and I noticed ants crawling all over the back of the coop. What can I use to kill the ants that won't harm my chickens? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
You need to know what kind of ants. Fire ants are killed w/compost tea-about a gallon, mixed w/2 oz of liq molasses & 2 oz of orange oil. Add a squirt of lemon dish soap. DE will also do it. If they are regualr ants, the DE will do it or a squirt of orange oil, diluted stronger than what you'd use for cleaning.
DE is used for a number of things and can be food grade or of a lower grade. The lower grade is often used with swimming pool filters in order to make them smaller particles.
That means it can often be found at Walmart, pool stores, feed stores, or many sales locations.
