rain poncho looking for a good one.

I am looking for a good rain poncho , i have rain gear coat and pants but they are not practical to pack with all the time i have been getting the vinil ones a slight bit better than the glorified trash bags that they sell as "emergency ponchos"

also some times if carring a pack it is nice to get it on under the poncho

i have heard people talk about how good thier old ponchos we when in the army many years ago , durrable and would last a long time

but i have been unable find a source to get these has anyone found anything that has been good quality , is long and has a head hole posable with a zipper or somthing i have a big head some times hard to fit thru the provided hole

also i see liners for some ,what is the benifit to these , do you suggest them
what have you found , brand , store , or website

so qualities i am looking for

duarable
quiet (some rustle and make a lot of noise swishing or crinkling)
good size head hole or adjustable
large size i stand 6'2'' with wide shoulders
large or zippered neck hole (20 inch neck left over from days of wrestling)
camo , od green or at least a dark color

GI surplus usually has a good supply of GI ponchos in my area. I consider it on of the most useful pieces of equipment in my pack, good for its intended purpose as well as an improvised shelter. The liner does not have a hole for the head, but it is usually used as a blanket or tied in for a light weight sleeping bag. While deployed to Iraq, most of us old soldiers brought a liner and still appreciate the utility of it. On the plus side for the liner, they still work ok when damp and dry out very quickly.

I always liked the REI products. Those cheap vinyl ones sweat and tear easily.

I vote military surplus too. Ace mentioned sportsmansguide. I've bought from them a time or two and have been pleased. They'll send you discount coupons if you sign up for their mailing list.
