assuming a square acre, 208 feet per side, times 4 gives us 832 ft. woven wire comes in rolls of 330 ft @175 per roll, so that would be three rolls required with a few feet left over. 3 6" wooden pt posts per corner, 12 of those @ $9 each, then figure on running one post every 10 feet down each side, with the 8 ft sucked up in corners leaving an even 200 ft, makes 19 line posts per side for a total of 76 line posts. I like to use a 4 inch wooden post for every 5 steel posts so theres a total of 16 of them down the line plus two more in each corner as braces makes 24 4' wood posts @ $7 each. Then yer down to the 15 steel posts on each side, 60 @ $3.50 each. Labor in this area for construction of the fence runs around a buck a foot.
Woven wire 550
corner posts 108
4' posts 168
steel posts 210
labor 820
total 1856
Toss in a 16" gate and a couple more posts to hang it on, some sales tax and yer looking at about 2 grand for that fence around one acre. Of course if you fence four acres it requires only twice as much fence so your cost per acre would then come out to a bit less than a grand per acre. double your cost again, and you can fence a 16 acre tract for only 500 per acre.
