Winter Seasonal Jobs - Good Ideas?

Hello folks!

I have a job that I'm very busy from March-August, and then have nothing from Sept-Feb. My business really needs me, so they don't make me seasonal for fear I'd leave. I would love to have an interesting winter job, and work out something with my company so we were both happy.

Do you have any seasonal job ideas that would make me $20,000 in 6 months? I've come up with oil rig worker, and snow plow driver!

Thanks for any advice!

Nathan

Cabana boy at a Miami Resort?

just kidding - what part of the country are you in and just to make sure -- you are willing to travel or live elsewhere for those months, right?

You don't say where you live but you mention snow plow driver so you must be in a snowy area. If you have any ski hills in the area you could try working there. If you're mechanically inclined you could work for a snowmobile dealer or repair shop. I'm not sure exactly what these places pay but I would think along the lines of a snow related job. If you know people who go south for the winter you could offer to keep an eye on their houses, pick up the mail, shovel the driveway, generally make the house look lived in for the winter. If you get a few of those you might make a few bucks.

If you seen my posts before, I'm also a Realtor and Auctioneer. As soon as I get my auctioneer income high enough, I have a plan to live 6 months in Uruguay, six months in US doing my day job + auctions (I'm in business with my dad, so he can handle meetings in my "off season").

Ahhh...to dream.

Oil rig in the winter??? I have seen guys around here with icecycles frozen on them. Mighty cold to be in 0 or below weather handling medal pipe and fighting icy platforms. My Son worked on the rigs one winter and that did him in. They do pay good but I don't know if it is worth it. Good luck finding what you want. Sam

Check around your area to see if there are warehouse distribution centers, like we have an amazon.com center here. Most places like that will peak load in the fall so they have the workers for during their heavy season.

Good luck!
