old fence disposal questions

I'm in the process of replacing/repairing old 5-strand barbwire fence.

Now I'm left with piles of old rusted barbwire and umpteen rotted out fence posts--most the creosote/diesel kind.

Any suggestions for the disposal of either? I don't really want to burn the posts because that can't be good for the cows (or us either).

Thanks!

The wire if you have it rolled can be taken to metal recycle some pay a litte for it. The posts if you can not burn them land fill but they will charge like heck.

If you have room to do it away from water sources and garden and livestock, you could make a pile and let them slowly rot. I have places where I could line the downhill side of my switchback road to hold the road in place.

Thats what I would do. Heck they have been partially in your ground all this time! Pile and let them rot slowly through time.

The wire...recycling center. Thats what we do. Our dump and recycle place is all in the same location. But we dont get money for anything. Its mandatory that scrap metals and such get recycled instead of going into the land fill. They even check our garbage to make sure its just garbage when we take our dump run. (no garbage pick up here)
