My credit union bought a new GM car today
And for $15,000, paid over 48 months, at 4.25% interest, I not only get to drive it, but to keep it.

Chevy HHR. Has a nice, "Back to the Depression" look and feel. PT Cruisers have a better BttD look and feel, but not as quite as good gas mileage.

Why would you get a GM? If its new it might be around longer than the company.

As long as Obama is paying for the warranty work, there will be parts and service. Warranty claims can always become a hassle. I would suspect the BMW warranty much more than a GM warranty.
I do feel GM will be around in some form, regardless.

I'm slightly confused, and I know you'll set me straight.
Did you buy a vehicle through the credit union? or did the credit union buy you a vehicle?
If the Credit Union bought a new vehicle and gave it to you, I'll need to call up my CU and see if they'll do the same for me.

Congratulations! Lots of GREAT deals going around right now to buy 1 of the big 3 vehicles & lots of tax incentives & the Government IS backing all the warranty coverages so no worries there.
Now is a great time to buy definately!!

I'm pretty sure that will only apply to vehicles purchased after his 'plan' goes into effect. GM and Chrysler vehicles purchased beforehand will not get the government backed warranty.
But, congrats on the new vehicle....that always feels good!

Is the sales tax deduction only if you itemize, like most things?? I get real tired of people saying things are deductible when in fact they are not if you can't itemize. Good luck with your vehicle, can't understand why the talking heads say that no one wants a big three vehicle, I wouldn't buy anything else. Of course I would never buy a new vehicle, but that's just me!

"If you buy between February 17 and December 31, 2009, you can deduct the sales tax you pay on the vehicle. You don't have to itemize to get this break: You get it even if you claim the standard deduction -- as most taxpayers do.

congratulations on your new vehicles. i bought one last week but only had it delivered today cause i had the undercoating and something done to the paint. i got a 2010 Kia soul burner.the warranty was finished on the other one and i was worried i might have problems. i'm used to a honda crv so this is going to take a while to get used to.i was just out for a spin and it's not too bad. not as much room though.~Georgia.

Excellent choice with the HHR. We have an '06 with 76,000 problem free miles. It hasn't been in the shop for anything except oil and two tires, which happened to be my fault.
I LOVE our HHR, and the mileage we get. Learn to keep your foot out of it, and the mileage will surprise you. It is nothing to get 35 or more on the interstate.
Nice choice on the black. It was my first choice too, but we could only get silver, which was my wife's first choice.
My inlaws have decided that they are going to buy an HHR too, later this year.

Good luck with your new HHR. We have a PT Cruiser and I've gone and test drove an HHR. There's not much difference in them except possibly the gas mileage. Visibility isn't the best in either but you get used to it. Which engine does it have and what are the gas mileage ratings? Let us know how your actual gas mileage works out after you put some miles on it.
I don't think you'll have any reason to use the warranty so i wouldn't worry about it.

I wonder about the warranties on vehicles purchased like say in 2007 & also paid for the extended warranty. I would think that they will have to cover warranty service on those too?

Today, I got 36.6 MPG in our HHR on the interstate. This includes about 5 miles of bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic which killed my mileage.
Generally speaking, most people don't believe how good the HHR is on gas. This is okay with me, because I just smile and wave to them as I drive by while they are pumping gas.
