Has anyone tried putting yogurt on stone for the old look?

I have a flagstone pathway with mortar between the joints. I want to get moss growing in the joints and don't want to dig out the mortar. I have read putting yogurt on the mortar, that this will help moss to grow there. Is this the same with a sunny location as well? Has anyone every tried the yogurt thing? Any other tips would be of great help. Thanks Chris

Yeah, I worry about paperwork burdens on the small farmer too. It seems like the new Secty of Agriculture is pretty small farmer friendly -- does anyone else know about him? And they're talking about combining USDA and FDA regulations so they don't duplicate each other or contradict each other, so it's possible those reforms might make things better instead of worse.

every had one of those surreal moments when you're in two conversations?

anyway. about the yogurt. Moss will grow in yogurt really well..good nutrients for it and stays moist. BUT it does pretty much need to NOT be in direct sunlight.

You can try spreading yogurt, then rub some moss over it (or chop it up and sprinkle in the yogurt) and then cover with a few layers of wet newspaper. After a few days you should have some good moss growing. Try it on one spot first to see if you can get it growing.

works really well on those cement statues that look so dang new and harsh...just do the yogurt/moss thing and cover it up with a black garbage bag to soak for a week.

Saw an episode on HGTV just the other day where the decorator put moss and yogurt into a blender, made a "moss milkshake" and then spread it on some new stone fountain or something. She swore by this method.
