Unhappy Waah!.No go on the free greenhouse

I pictured it as a free standing regular greenhouse.

Went to see it today, and turns out it'a $50k+ custom built beauty of a thing..absolutely amazing, but there's no way on earth I can either take it down, get it here, or make it work here..even for free.

It's taller than our little cottage for one.

I'm so disappointed.

Check it out...

It looks like the greenhouse is integrated with the structer of the house. Why would anyone want to get rid of it?

Beats me..I don't understand at all.

Even if you don't like to grow things, it makes a lovely conservatory for cool afternoons.

Here's another view..

It is beautifull. Who just decides they would like to lower the value of their home by fifty grand?

Wow, I'd love to have that on my house! But I agree, I wouldn't want to try to disassemble it. In your 2nd picture it appears at least one member of the family would miss it (the cat)

How would you even start to take that apart...and not ruin the rest of the house?

How close are you to the greenhouse? The lady obviously wants to help you out. Would you consider using it and maybe giving her some veggies/flowers? If it's close enough it could benefit both of you.

It looks more like a sun room than a greenhouse - depending upon which direction it faces. If it faces south, and has enough mass, it can lower their heating bill about half.

It must leak. Water or cold air, or maybe lots of condinsation during season changes? I do so many drywall repairs in skylights and sunrooms. I'd never mess with those in a colder climate.

If she is wanting it down, maybe she will end up hiring someone to do it. Then you could try to get pieces of it to make your own. BTW they aren't that bad to get apart, we took one similar to that off a retirement home and put it back on my parents cabin. The glass was heeeaaavy, but it worked perfectly. If i was closer I would take it.

Do you have any friends or family that would be able to help you disassemble it? Like someone else mentioned, if you can get it down, then reuse the parts to make one at your place. Probably would have enough parts there to make 3 or 4 regular sized greenhouses.

Good luck!

Heck, for free I'd take my chances and start taking it apart right then and there! It's a real beauty and with a little work could probably be made into a free standing structure.
If nothing else you could use some of the components to design a smaller greenhouse and give away, sell or toss what you don't use.

I would use a grease pencil or something to mark components prior to disassembly.....if it were custom constructed onsite, some of those pieces might only fit best with the ones they are with now.

Might even be worth having to pay someone to help/do it all disassemble it for you......
