I googled the word worm and Jay ____ (Shrek the
Singletree Mod) and this forum came up.

I'm gonna have to check it out.

http://wormsturn.proboards54.com/

I also saw:

www.worms.com

They list a "Starting a worm bin Thread.

wormwoman.com

This website should have what you need, including a book by the Worm Woman, Mary Appelhof. You can also look up vermicomposting. We have two worm bins. It's very easy.

yes, nothing to it. i've been practicing the art of vermicomposting for years. but you can certainly find out anything you need to know from Shrek over on Singletree. ~Georgia.

Type in Cheap and Easy worm Bin!
It gives instuctions, color pictures, what to feed and how to get started. I bought my tubs at W-mart and got a lot of castings from them. My boys use them for bait and I have some for my garden.

This is what we've had for about a year and a half. My 7.5 year old son is proudly in charge of it

I have 3 bins now that I purchased at the dollar store. Drill holes for drainage and ventilation. Cover the bottom with newspaper and a few inches of peat. Ordered my worms from Uncle Jims Worm Farm. Put them in then a few days later started adding scraps. I started this last summer. I now have the prettiest black compost, 1 bin full and 2 bins started. I just split some worms out of the first bin into the next, which I started with newspaper and a little of the 1st bins compost. Can't wait to get it in the garden!!

Also, I never have to turn the compost, the worms do a good job. I put all veggie/fruit scraps, old hay, the bedding from the guinea pigs, weeds, cut grass, etc. Sometimes I also add feathers and other stuff.
