raising catfish to eat

How many catfish can you raise in a 1000 gallon cistern?

We have discovered another water source on our property and now have the use of a 1000 gallon cistern and one of the kids suggested we use it to raise catfish in.

Will it be worth it? How long does it take a 6 inch catfish to reach, say, 16 inches?

Thanks, Happy

We stocked our pond last spring with cats, blue gill, and bass. The blue gills we have been catching are fairly small, but hubby pulled a good sized cat fish out of there last week. Not sure how to post a picture or I could show you. So my guess would be about a season. They were barely finger length when we put them in.

We are looking at catfish and yellow perch in stock tanks. If it goes well, we will go larger tanks.
