Any use for Creosote from my woodstove?

When I clean my woodstove I have about a coffee can full of creosote. What can I do with this???? Can I put it in my garden, compost???? Thanks, Christina

Welcome to the forum....I simply add it to my wood ashes, and either use it for the gardens, or apply it to the driveway during winter for traction on the icey spots.

When I clean my stove all the creosote ends up back in the stove. I just build a fire on top of it and move on.

Creosote is chalk full of carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The last place I would put it is in my garden. I'm with Matt, just burn the stuff up in the next fire.

Would it dissolve in a little diesel or oil and be used to soak fence post ends in to keep them from rotting??

I would not use it for anything I want to come in contact with. Creosote is toxic.
