the 1966 Sears garden tractor 'redo'...

hub got this 66 tractor from a field, where it's been sitting outside for well over 30 years. a rust bucket ....galore. he tore it completely down, rebuilt it, painted everything, and it now runs like a bear. lol recycling at it's best. hope the pics show up...I've had a bit of a problem with photobucket again..

hub will use it to attach the cart and haul wood leftover from the loggers. (from the woods) he tried to match all the original colors, but never did find new decals. he loves 'vintage', and he loves to refurbish old equipment over winter as a hobby.

Those are tough little machines .
for nearly 30 years thats all we had on 25 acres did all the mowing, and garden plowing , hailed and even cut fire wood (we have the buzz saw attatchment, and a grain mill they sold for them in 68)
Ive been working on a 1970 JD 110, not looking to restore it but to actually use it . Unlike the new lawn tractors about the only thing to break on the old garden tractors is the belts or the motor .
hope the pics show up
those suburbans are nice machines .
heres something he might like if yours didnt come with the three point

sounds lame, but did my pics show up? I see them, BUT I posted them on his tractor forum and they didn't show up in my post. meanwhile, they are in my photobucket album so I was a bit confused. thanks!

PyroDon, we love the older machines. they just don't build them like they used to.

thanks for the link!

Hi -

The pictures showed up great! I love that little tractor, wish we could find one like that. We currently mow the yard with an older Sears lawn tractor, but not as old as that one. Around our small farm, DH uses a 1978 Economy Power King, which is bigger than a lawn tractor but smaller than a standard tractor. It has been a real little workhorse for us.

If someone wants to add a hydraulic lift to these small tractors it can be easily done using a power steering pump belted directly off the motor , you will also need a valve but they can be picked up for a reasonable price in ebays home and garden section.

for some reason Im still getting the OOps photo was not correctly linked message .
