I have one. It is very easy to carry as a pocket gun. Quality constructed and it has never jammed on me. Not as easy to shoot as my Glock 19. The gun is very small in your hand and it presses against the lower thumb bone which starts to hurt after shoot a few clips. The earlier made guns had a recall because they might go off when dropped if you had a round chambered. Ruger handled the recall very painlessly.

I can't think of a better pocket gun and it will be my favorite for a long time.

Thanks. Hubby is thinking this might be just the gun for him to carry around the farm. He needs one for the water mocassins.

I'd think about a snake charmer. A friend of mine used one in Mississippi to keep the cottonmouths out of his canoe. I'm sure your husband could get real handy with a 380 but a short shotgun is handier. I think the snake charmers were 410s.

I also have a Ruger LCP. It's a real good little handgun that I carry whenever I leave the house (I have a CCW). I prefer an inside the pants and the Ruger conceals very well and stays on my belt. I tried this with my Springfield XD .45ACP but the darned thing kept coming loose and sliding down my pant leg. Nothings more embarrassing than having to walk funny until you can get to a place where you have enough privacy to reach into your pants and pull out your gun. Kinda reminded me of that old joke, 'Is that a gun in your pants or are you just happy to see me.

I don't have the Ruger, but I do have a mocassin problem at my Oklahoma land. I hunt them with a pistol grip .410 using Rio dust load. If looking for the size of a pistol, a Taurus or similar that shoots .410 might be a good choice.

The Ruger LCP probably wouldn't be my choice shooting water moccasins either. For that purpose, I prefer to keep one of my Springfield XD's loaded with .45acp shotshells. I wear them with drop leg holsters and I find them very comfortable to wear when I'm working.

Just FYI all LCP pistols bearing the prefix "370" on the serial number (example serial number 370-xxxxx) were recalled. Apparently some were going off when dropped and they were recalled to the factory to have a new upgraded hammer mechanism installed to prevent the problem. Any firearm with serial # beginning in 371 and later is not affected.
