Hitzer Stoves

Does anyone have experience with Hitzer wood/coal stoves? http://www.hitzer.com/heaters.html
I really like the model 82, but wondered how they performed and lasted. Thanks!

Hitzer's are good people

Stephen:
We live about 20 miles from Berne, IN where Hitzer's are located and where the stoves are manufactured. The Hitzer stove has a very good reputation. I don't own one but have done business with the company. We purchased a gas log fireplace insert from them and have been extremely happy with it. We heat our house with the log set. The guy who services the gas logs told me they sell out of their stoves every year.

I have the Hitzer 30-95 heater. I've had it for three years with no problems.
Check out the following site, you can search for information and/or post questions to the forum:

The are what many of my Amish neighbors have. They really heat well and seem to be super as far as holding a fire. We looked at one but didn't really need one of them along with the Kitchen Queen wood cookstove in our small place so we settled on the cookstove as I like to cook on it and it has such a big water heating reservoir. If I had no interest in cooking or heating my water with it I would have gone with the Hitzer.

I've been looking at their inserts for fireplace. You get allot more for your money by going with hitzer. $1500.00 . The one i've been looking at has up to 80,000 BTU. Does have the ability to use coal . But , for legal reason they can advertise this fact. New this year is the stoves.

Thanks for the input. I really like what I've seen so far, including the price. They get glowing reviews at the NEPA site. Their fireboxes are adequately sized to handle "Standard" wood lengths with adequate depth for large loads and they have the Bimetal thermostat that I dearly love.
