Tulsa, Oklahoma?

I drove thru Tulsa last weekend on highway 412. I was pleasantly surprised by the gently rolling hills and the beautiful river going through the town. It was at night and saw all the pretty lights. I had sort of been doing research on that town since it's one of the towns that has a high demand for cnc machining and isn't too terribly far from Wichita, KS where my wife has family. 412 was very quiet. I liked what I saw of Tulsa. Is there anyone from that town or used to live there? Any pros and cons? Was told you could easily purchase rural property just out of town. Any truth to it?

I wish I has not listened to the wife and taken I40 so that way I would've seen the town in the day time. Had 30 extra minutes added to my trip as well. Lesson well learned.

Property is still reasonable around Tulsa. I'm not sure I would live IN Tulsa, we live 60 miles to the southeast and it's an easy drive in. You can find land all over Green Country with or without improvements, by the lake and in some of the smaller towns for alot less than what it costs in other parts of the country. The country is beautiful here and there is a lot to do.

Hey.

One of my kid's neighbors is from Tulsa. He goes back to visit family every year. He says the job market isn't too good there...mostly poor paying wage jobs.

Actually the wages are quite good here, we are a LCOL area and you can live, buy property and do well on 1/2 what everyone else thinks they need. While the economy isn't fantastic here it is better than other places. You don't need to make 100,000 to buy a nice home in a good area. If someone is making 20.00 an hour in another state and not doing well, here that same 20.00 per hour is an excellent wage. Dahltile is hiring workers all the time for 16.00 to 20.00 an hour for unskilled labor, with benefits.

I also think it has to do with what field you choose to work in. Mine is cnc machining, Catia programming, and cnc programming. Plenty of that in the Tulsa area from what I understand.

Acreage around Tulsa is EXTREAMLY HIGH, Specially on N & E

By round Tulsa I mean say 10 miles. Round 20 miles, Its possible to find something, affordable, but on the high side, but there usually gone by the time one finds them. Round 30 miles, You can indeed occasionally find something, and land it if you have adiquate financeing. I will say that there are jobs plenty in Tulsa, but what do I know, other than what ive heard. People are good here tho, OUTSIDE Tulsa. I lived in Tulsa in 79/80 IN THE MIDDLE> 244 & Admiral and Utica
