really surprised no one has mentioned this..??
Lately we have been hearing a lot about the extra tax on bullets for guns but also now we have heard about the companies putting a scan bar onto the actual bullets so they can be traced to the buyer. When your purchase them at the store you will sign for them..then they can be traced. Have spoken with others within the family and have gotten different thoughts on this but personally I believe it is one small step into invasion of your privacy..What do you all think about this ??

Not sure if this is the same as the Bill that is being considered in 18 states to put serial numbers on bullets. It has been discussed somewhere here but, here is a link I found on the Bill.

Yes it's been mentioned. There was a topic about it here at HT not very long ago.

The same sort of trace back has been put into all home printers as well. Every page that comes out of your printer has a signature unique to your very own printer.
It will just make the more informed ne'er do wells stage fake robberies before they plan their clandestine operations.
It's just another way to increase the costs of products in the name of 'safety'.
The safety tax.

I can foresee a lot of those bullets being 'destroyed' in the presence of the bullet inspectors. I would not want want to be a bullet inspector.
If you're worried about bullet taxes, get a good bullet mould now, and do like I do, make your own. With proper heat treating, they're some mighty potent pills....

Exactly!
There is also the deny-ability..
What guns? I don't own any long arms or ammo for them...
Oh all the reloaders are antique and only there for display...
Pistols/revolvers are a different matter

Are you using your bullets in any way that you would not want them to be traceable?

It is has been discussed, several times in fact. This attempted piece of legislation has been shot down in probably every state it has been introduced. The main supporters of the bill are the men who have the patent on the bullet encoding equipment.
Nevertheless, those who wish to retain their 2nd Amendment freedoms need to stay vigilant on bills introduced into their state legislatures as well as keeping an eye on your federal reps.

I'm not. If I did, I guess I would have to make sure and retrieve the bullet after this goes into effect. Should make for some interesting crime scenes.

It doesn't matter!
I can only ASSUME that you have no problem opening your doors to the police for any reason..
I haven't commited a crime, but yet if they pass this law then I become a criminal..
Why?
What have I done?
This is nothing more then a round about way to gun control..
This would be the same thing if they made carbs illegal and only fuel injected cars or hybrids legal. So because I may have a carb sitting in my garage I would be a criminal..
Guess I would be a criminal then!
Here is another thought, If I become a criminal because of stupid laws, then why should I obey other laws? I would already be a criminal and we know criminals don't obey the law..
Further discussion of this topic won't happen by me as long as this is in this forum and not the general chat forum..
I feel too strongly about the 2A..

I think this topic belongs in General Chat as it is bound to get out of hand very quickly.

See that way they can jump from the crime scene, that has your bullet number in a body,to your house where you have the rest of the box. Look on the bright side, now you know where that bullet you was carrying around in your pants pocket got off to. Heard of homing pigeons and now homing bullets. Now ain't that amazing? Eddie

If it comes to that, I'll buy the more popular rounds used in crime and then lose them from a hole in my pocket in the more crime prone areas.

It's not what we are doing with them, it's the cost. Next thing you know it'll be $5.00 per bullet and noone will be able to afford the cost. (Or is that that real plan?)
Texican will have to watch the fines for his contraband bullets. They will get testy about rolling your own in the NWO.
