I wonder why the design never made it into production?
I sure could have used it a few days ago..

I figure it didn't make it because it really needed deep snow. A track vehicle can go in deep snow and no snow. This looks to need the deep snow due to the way the traction is made.

No kidding. I was snowed in for seventeen days in December; that sure would have come in handy!

I'd like to shoot the guy with the horse, though.

I remember seeing something similar that did operate on water using counter-rotating pontoons.

What I found way cool was the Lombard log haulers. The early ones were small steam locomotives that had the front truck replaced with skis, and the driven wheels replaced with tank treads.

The later ones used marine diesel engines. Old timers in the town where I grew up told of the Lombards being used to carry milk and freight when the local trolley broke down. They drove the train of the Lombard and a half-dozen sleds right through the center of town to get to the train depot.

That Snow Screw is really neat looking.
I have seen a Lombard log Locomotive and a model A set up for a Dr. with ski's on the front and tracks on the back at museums in maine.

I think you would have to dig him up before you could shoot him.
During my lifetime, at least most of it, there have been disclaimers at the end of films saying that no animals were harmed in the filming. That guy whipped the poor horse for sinking into the snow!

As for the machine, wow! That is the finest snow machine I have ever seen! Ingenious!

I may be wrong but I think the Marines have some sort of landing craft like that except it was for sand.
