T.g.f.c.l.

That's thank goodness for Craig's List. I've wanted a small 12" Delta planer for some time. Looked on CL Wed. night and there was one listed for $50.00. I called within a few minutes of it being listed, certain the price was a typo but it wasn't, and I got it bought via phone.

It belonged to an older gentleman that had sold his home was moving to an apt. and needed to dispose of his woodworking tools. I went and picked it up that night, even though it was 8:30, good thing too the seller said he had received 3 calls about it while I was on the way.

It is a very little used one that needs some TLC; the pulley had loosened up and spun on the shaft. The great part of this is the fellow had bought everything needed to fix it, and more, there was an invoice in the box for the $132.00 worth of new parts, belts, pulley, cutter bar, etc. but because of health reasons had never fixed it.

I'm jumping in late, here, but I've got to say we wouldn't be able to build our own place without Craigslist.

Let's see...we've scrounged 2 great woodstoves, stove pipe, a bathtub, bathroom sink, five great insulated doors, a gorgeous interior set of french doors, more windows that we'll probably have room for (all insulated), enough cedar shakes to cover the whole house, cinder blocks, chimney blocks, a wood-for-lumber-milling barter deal, a loan of a log chain, a fabulous old table saw...you name it. We're musicians who travel a lot for gigs (11,000 miles the year before last), and I start scanning the Craigslist ads for wherever we're going about a week before we leave.

For what it's worth, for those who worry about it, I've never gotten burned.
