Pod casts

The Homesteading podcast got me hooked. Commerical radio is the pits so I've started using my el-cheapo mp3 player to listen to podcast figuring it was a good way to use my time. I did a little surfing and found this website:

http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/

The guy records the podcast in his car on the way to work. Some good topics on gardening, survival as well as political commentary. Like anything else, I don't have to agree with his opinion. Still, I've found some useful information and items to think about.

Anyone have any other sites with pod casts with homesteading oriented content they like to listen to?

I've not listened to a podcast. However, I'm wanting to get an Ipod or MP3 player so I can do so. I'm anxious to hear the homesteading podcast as well as an herbal podcast that my favorite author has. I'll have to check out the survival podcast you found also.

I subscribe to the Dave Ramsey podcasts through Itunes.... You can get one hour of each day's radio show, commercial free.

He's not exactly homesteading, but he is good common-sense financial advice.

Speaking of podcasts, I have to decide what to get, an Ipod or an MP3 player. Which one would be better? I'd like to hold it under $50.

Heck, some of the mp3 players are under $20.

The shipping on this unit is about half the cost of the unit itself. My DD has an Ipod. It is very nice but more than I needed.

From PC mag

Podcast

(iPOD broadCAST) An audio broadcast that has been converted to an MP3 file or other audio file format for playback in a digital music player. Although many podcasts are played in a regular computer, the original idea was to listen on a portable device; hence, the "pod" name from "iPod."

Kind of like books or magazines on tape but with lots of topics. You can listen to these on your computer if you don't have an MP3 player. The MP3 player makes them portable.

BTW, you're not old or a fuddy-duddy...my youngest DD had to teach me about these.
