Be cautious on deep discounting/sales. Tricks:
In liquidations it may read 40% off everything. However, before opening the store for the sale they jacked up the 'former price' to where you end up paying about the same. Still do your comparison shopping. If store A is offering 40% off, it should be about 40% lower than store B.
Selected items: Flier/ad may read: 75% off selected items. When you get to the store they say the item(s) at that discount have sold out, but, hey, as long as you are here look around. The old bait and switch.
Typically what gets discounted are items where there was little demand for previously, such as certain sizes or colors.
Some stores put up large signs over selected merchandise, such as Blouses Starting at $19.99. No sale, they just want to give the illusion of one.
While the counter may have a lower price, the register may still be charging the former price. Here about all you can do is write down the counter price and then compare it to your receipt before you leave the store.
Shop at Thrift Stores were possible, they don't use gimmics.
