As with all new heating and cooling its got to have track record and be affordable. Its got to have a network for places that work on it. I found a company who make an above ground geothermal unit that doesn't require you to dig up your yard. It cost 6-8000 more than the standard geothermal. Like all new things , wait . The cost will come down and their will be competitors.

The picture in that link shows a Heat Recovery Ventilator. There is nothing special about it. It exchanges stale air for fresh air and recovers the heat that would be otherwise lost to the outdoors. Notice there is no heat generated by this machine. Look at the airflow diagrams real close. If they are trying to sell this as a heater, it's a scam.

Geo = earth , so above ground is not a geo unit. I have heard of these new high tech dual compressor heatpumps that cost that much more than a geothermal heatpump. These units will extract heat from the air down to -30 degrees or so.

I just took a look at the second link. Read through it real close, there are no specifics given. I would bet that soon you will find out that the maker of this website is a scammer, about to try to sell these heat recovery ventilators as heaters. Beware, I think scam.

This sounds like a total BS to me:

The filter deconstruct and reconstructs the air hundreds of times before the air molecules are infused with either heating and cooling. What goes in as particulate matter comes out as healthful breathable air. The processes are proprietary.

Some HRV's are pre-balanced matching air intake to exhaust so the house is never over or under pressured. Some have to be manually set. I didn't notice anything about that in the instal manual. HRV's are also sized to the house ...... this one seems to be a single one size fits all? Hmmmmm Venmar is pretty well know and has good instructions, and lots of size choices too.

This system was put together for less than 200.00 can run off 45 watts. It has potential to heat a house during the day, but being solar powered it won't run at night. Panels would need to be added to heat the entire house. There are ways to store the heat, and lessen household heat losses.
