It depends. For a large, delivered tank fill around 2.50 and some companies tack on other charges.

For a small 100 pound self filling tank, its around 3.25 per gallon...go figure.
It cost more to take a 100 pound tank to a filling station yourself than to have propane delivered to your larger tank.

300 gallon delivered price: $1.29/gal. I guess we're lucky this year!

We just paid $3.01 per unit for our propane gas. It has really went up in price this fall. I am so very glad that we heat with nothing but wood..no central heat in this old farmhouse..I wouldn't be able to keep warm at all. How come such a difference in different parts of the country ??

We just paid $2.09 here in northern IL. My DH is upset because someone he works with who lives in the county north of us paid $1.29 and that was their locked in price for the season. Our company doesn't "lock-in" the rate but has a cap for the season. I understand that our company bought this LP back when the prices were high, but I don't understand how another company could have locked in their price at $1.29, unless they waited until fall to purchase their supply. I get good service, reliability and never a shortage with our supplier - I don't know how it is with others. But I sure do wish it was cheaper!

Ours finally dropped from $3.+ to the $2.70's, but still that's almost tripled from about 5 years ago.

We are also having a problem getting our provider to fill our 500 gallon tank - last year we had a 250 gallon tank that went dry when the meter stuck and the driver didn't bother tapping it three months in a row.

We asked for a 500 gallon tank mostly for added reserves - since receiving it they have never filled it to capacity. They will only add about $500 worth of LP, and won't come out monthly - even though they assured us they would.

So...we are shopping the other providers in our area for better pricing - and a monthly service that is really a monthly service.

buy your own tank ... you can get gas from any propain companey ,,and most knock 5 to 10 cent a gal if its your tank .. the fall fill I paid 2.29 ,,, just befor thanksging it was 1.95 ,,, but I seen a ad for another ga sprovider
and paid 1.65 .. I call all the ones around each time I need gas and take the cheepest ... keep tracket of what you pay and call around and ask for the costomer owned price .. you will see it is a good investment .. the draw back is you have to pay cash,,and watch your own gage and call for a fill ..all the hoses around me have went to natural gas ,, but by owning my tank and not paying mounthly fees ,,tax and all that ,,, I come out at least ,,150 ayear ahead ,,,, a gal of propain is one therm of natural gas ... when they tell you that its cost ly to run propain ,they only tell you what the gas cost ,, but ask what mounthly fees ,, tax ,,,and other crap they charge and you don't come out ,,add fees ,,tax and other charges and gas up for a year and propain is cheeper
so right now im paying 1.69 a gal

2.09 in southeastern pa

I just paid 2.09 here in southeastern pa, but there is a huge difference between the different companies. I own my tank, so can shop around, and I found prices from 2.09 all the way up to 3.07.
