we bought a IH 82 with a feeder house instead of a canvass draper for $400., those draper fed combines can be very hard to get working! had a cockshutt 422 and the cut grain would ball up going up the draper. when the canvass tore that was the end of the combine, several hundred for a new draper canvass. went to a restorer for parts. as a collectible though they sell well here! saw a pulltype deere on a dealers lot yesterday will have to phone today and see what kinda price they are asking!

A combine is about the most complicated machine you will find.If you are not good with machinery the repairs may be more than you want to deal with.
Could you tear down and rebuild a semi truck ? its on that level. The one you are looking at is commonly concidered a antique and to use it in the field would take a huge amount of mainteinance and repair.

That combine looks like it has been shedded all of its life. If thats right, then it was owned by a farmer who took good care of it, kept it greased, oiled, ect. I had one 40 yrs ago that didnt look a fraction as good. paint wise, as this one, and it ran fantastic. If the bat reels as good as it looks, then I bet he has the draper for it. Here we called it the canvis. Dont know how much it is, but I bet its a good machine yet, and for your life if you give it the same care as its prvious owner

Lots of expensive belts on these old machines, they last but have to be good. At this point you'd be welding broken parts like shaker arms etc. Parts supply would be minimal. Nothing really wrong with that just they're a bit harder to keep in the field.

I have 3 Massey Harris 35's...self propelled...plus a bunch of spare parts. I can make anyone a good deal on the whole group!

I like having a combine. I sold my Case IH rotary and bought an Allis Chalmers 66. No regrets as I can still harvest plenty of grass seed, thousands of pounds!
