Wondering how many northeast washington state people we have.

Well since things might get tough in the future I thought it would be good to make friends up here. I garden and collect heirloom seed and wondered if anyone in the area does the same. I ordered $40.00 dollars worth today. I was hoping that us locals could trade seed and ideas, and thoughts. Heidi

Hi neighbor!

I live in the Basin area - just off Orin-Rice road. Where are you?

We're too high up to have much of a garden, but I have chickens, buns, & donkeys. Want to adopt a rooster & save me from having to butcher my extra? I've been meaning to get on Party Line & offer him.

Are you gong to the county commissioners public meeting on Tuesday morning? Part, if not the whole meeting, is about continuing to fund Extension. It's at the Ag Center. I'll be putting in my 2 cents worth - I volunteer a lot with Extension. If you go, I'll be the fat older lady wearing the red poncho. I'm hard to miss!

There don't seem to be too many people from around here that are on this forum. There is 1 guy who works at the lumber mill in Arden - tho that won't be for long - & 1 lady from Republic. There's another from Spokane who is planning on moving to Addy, but I don't remember when.

I think it would be wonderful to be able to pool ideas for our area and like I said before trade heirloom seed ect. I hope the others will let us know who they are.
I have to admit I have not been very involved with the socal issues of the area.
Went through a bad divorce and have kept to myself mostly. Have a cousin out in summit valley who has been a God send to me. It's funny because we really didn't know each other growing up but we have alot of the same ideas as far as homesteading ect... I used to check homesteading today all the time but have gotten away from it in the last couple of years. Was avoiding posting anything because of my ex. feared he would be checking on me here. But now I feel making friends is more important than hiding. ;-)

If you haven't already, you might want to talk to the Master Gardener people. They would know who is into seed saving & the gardening stuff.

Hello gals I'm another neighbor! We're East of Colville a bit, and my DH is the guy who work(ed) at the mill in Arden.
I'm real interested in trading heirloom seeds, though I only have just a few so far. I do have a few Cherokee Purple tomato seeds, plus a couple of others. Also can share some flower seeds such as a real pretty dwarf cosmos in shades of yellows and oranges.
We raise goats, chickens, Border/Aussies and cats, and a large garden each year. I think it'll be great to know local homesteading gals.

Good idea Bonnie I should get ahold of them plus I have three pressure canners that need to be checked and they did that back home.

Well Mrs. Two it is so nice to meet you. I love flowers and think the one thing that can make a difference in hard times is beautiful flowers. I would love to trade you some of my tomato seed for some purple cherokee seed. How wonderful to know that there are people who think towards a more practical life are right here where I am.I am not able to have chickens where I live so I have to do without ;-(. But I can have my garden and love it so. Someday I hope to find a small piece of land to have my little piece of heaven.
Heidi

More Addy neighbors checking in here! An extended family--half of us live in western Washington now, half in Spokane, all developing our place near Addy so we can move there. We plant heirlooms in our home gardens while waiting to move and have more space.

Hey Heidi! We're moving up to Addy in a few years - my folks got 120 acres up there and we'll get 20 of them. Right now we're in Spokane Valley but I hope we'll be in Addy with our home built within 5 years or so.

Edit - didn't see OmaMutti's post (my mom) lol

I actually eventually plan on doing a lot of growing when I'm settled in up there, probably for market/restaurants or something similar. Right now my folks (Omamutti and my dad) and my brother with his family live on the west side, my sister and I live in Spokane, and we all plan on moving up there and hopefully we'll all be there by 2013.

I am south and east of you a bit on the Idaho side of the Palouse. I have some seed and will hopefully have more after next years' garden.

I live and work in Liberty Lake. I own 20 off the grid acres up above Sandpoint. I have considered cashing out of Sandpoint and buying some homesteading acreage in Chelewah-Colville area but my wife has been bit by the Palouse bug. Longer growing season down there. Anyway good to see we have so many homesteading neighbors fairly close-by.
