Introduction

Good Evening All

Fellow prepper here in southern Utah.

Nearing the 46 and I have been around the block. I have a lovely wife and two perfect children one of which is in college. Prior service, graduated college at 30, been in business for myself for 13 years.

I lived in suburbs of a big city after college cause that is where my job was. I do not like metropolitan areas - too many people - but God bless you city dwellers for all the work that you do. I must travel to the city once per month for business.

We have 160 acres up here in a 6,000 ASL valley with 12,000 ASL mountains surrounding us. All fenced. Run cattle, horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and one pygmy goat. Missy goat came with a free horse.

We have all the necessities for a prolonged TEOTWAKI but would prefer a mild SHTF. Our motto is plan for the worst and hope for the best. Security, food, water, sanitation, heat, etc.

Working on a greenhouse off the deck right now. 30x8 feet. All redwood, cedar, steel and polycarbonate.

I believe in the US Constitution and the way the founders set it up. I remember reading in Billy Dixon's journal (45-70 1 mile shot at Adobe Wells) that they had a new president but he did not know who, nor much cared, because Washington had no power over his life. That is what I want. Just leave me be to live my life.

Anyway, I have been reading some here and look forward to fitting in.

Welcome to the worst Internet addiction you have ever had, God knows I love this place. I have learned a a lot and shared some too. I was a prepper all my young life and didn't know it, Mom always made due with what we had. I joined the Army at 20 and set out to have a bigger better life. I have always gardened and raised horses and chickens. But I was caught up in consumerism for years. About a year or so ago I saw the light and got back to the dirt God gave me, and started living with a lot less. No credit card debt here and about paid off on the Mortgage.

Like I said welcome to the HT forums brother... I believe in the constitution as you put it... So stay away from General Chat.... LOL

I grew up on a farm so I had to get back to the dirt.

I just could not stand the idea of relying on the thin facade of civility to guarantee food and fuel and electricity for a city life.

No mortgage here. We did it all with cashola. And, yes, I went through a bout of consumerism and wish I had all that money back.

Now that you have met the husband, meet the wife. 7.62mm and I met and married while serving in the Army in our early 20's. I forced this country boy raised on a dairy farm to live in the city for quite a while. Now he has me living the country life out in the middle of nowhere and it is the best decision we have ever made for ourselves and our children. We have subscribed to Backwood's Home and we were happy to find this forum.
Glad to meet you all!

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of kindred spirits and like minded folks. You may meet a few with strange political notions (don't tell anyone I said so), but all good people.

Welcome to all of you. You'll find the people on here very informative, if a bit quirky at times. But I like quirky.
