Finding a Wood Stove Thermometer or Heat Probe

Our larger wood stove is located in our basement with vents to the upstairs. It works great (Fisher Mama Bear) and can heat the whole house but it takes up a lot of time running up and down the stairs to check the thermometer. We use those round small spring thermometers on the stove top and one on the stove pipe. (We have an 11 year old in the house and he has learned to check the temps, then report to adults if stove needs attention - that is why we use two thermometers)

Is there a type of thermometer that we could see the temp upstairs? Some type that would not require wires? Seems to me that any thermometer that would report upstairs would take wires and the wood stove would melt the wires? But we thought we would ask here.

Thank you.

get an out door thermommeter with the wire or pick up the one that is remote, put the sensor buy the stove, and thermnmeter up stairs.

Thanks stranger but I am not sure those would take the high temps of the wood stove? It sometimes reaches 650 degrees when we first fire it up. We usually burn it at about 400 degrees for at least an hour, then damper down for a while but repeat the higher temps when we add wood.

Is there a "point and shoot" type thermometer?

thank you

Thank you - we have that found type that the photo shows lying in the oven. I think we better just keep running up and down the steps for now. Thanks everyone.
