I add it to my cereal in the morning. Keeps things...moving... I also add it to a flour blend that I use in quick breads, pancakes and muffins. Keeps baked goods moist.

For non-cooking use, it makes a great neck pillow and draft dog that goes in front of the door.

Make sure you grind up the flax seed before eating it. This can be done in a blender. You won't get any nutritional value out of it unless it's ground up. Chris

I use it to help lower my cholesterol. I use the ground to add to meat loaf and casseroles and salmon or tuna patties.
I add to yogurt and cereals.Any baked goods.

So far, all I have done is store it in the cupboard and then fed it to the chickens. BUT I have plans to put it in my bread. I did just put it in a drink and drank it - didn't know it had to be ground up!!!

I use one of those small coffee grinders. You know, like you'd find at Wal Mart for example. You can use it in lots of things. I even mix it up in peanut butter and eat it on a sandwich.

Put a few in your eye overnight to dislodge objects that are stuck. In the morning dig it out of the corner of your eye and the formerly stuck object will come out with the seed.

I did the same thing this summer - once. Maybe if it's ground up I won't feel like I need to spit out seeds.

It does indeed need to be ground up first. We use it many ways. Throw a heaping tablespoonful in our oatmeal, breads, pancake/waffle batter, and in various dinner dishes. You never know it's there. Sprinkle it over your salads too.
It's a very good source of Omega 3

I coarsely grind it and make flaxseed bread with it. I sell bread at the farmer's market here, and it's my biggest seller. I also put it in my granola recipe.

My neighbor grows the stuff, so I get two bushels a year from him in exchange for the use of my grain bins (which I'm not using anyhow). I believe the addition of it to my family's diet has made a huge difference in our health.
