Big Buddy Mr. Heater: Do you own one?

Can it be used indoors? Does it smell? What has been your experience?

Notice that it says not for permanent use, and all the applications it mentions are drafty areas. Unvented propane heat is NOT for use in residences as the primary heat source.

Death can result.

We have one (and a little buddy heater) and use ours when the power goes out (we're renting so no woodstove). We have a couple battery operated carbon monoxide detectors and have never had a problem. I do keep a window cracked just slightly tho.

We purchased the little Mr heater portable, to use in our tent, for fall camping.

Great little heater. No smell and saftey shutoffs. We are going to get the attachment hose to hook to a 20# tank.

Your model should be of a similar design.

Nice heaters.

I use one on my sun porch when the sun is'nt shining & when the power goes out. It works great no smell and the cabonmonoxide detector has never gone off. Anytime using such a device I recommend using a detector.

I use one in my camp and love it, but I never sleep with it on. A working CO detector would be a must in the home with it or any other unvented gas heater.

We use one to heat our living room 12 - 14 hours a day in winter. Never any problem with smells and we have used it overnight several times when it got down well below freezing. Have CO and Fire Detectors for safety, never had them chirp. We do have a somewhat drafty home though... On a 20 lb tank (@ $16 refill vs. $19 exchange at WM) running about 12 - 14 hours a day on low setting, runs a good week at the least. That's also with me turning it on high for about a half-hour when I get up in the mornings to bring the temp back up.

A word of warning- propane in the larger tanks has contaminants which will eventually plug up the line in the heater- Ive had it happen to two of mine- I see that mr heater now sells some kind of filter to go in the line to stop the contaminents from messing u the heater. I cant recommend the heaters for just this reason- Ive had 2 that have quit working for the same reason.
