Fast framing kit question

I bought one of these from Fingerhut:

http://www.fingerhut.com/ProductGrou...egor---=search

One kit is supposed to make a 7'X8' building. In my instructions, most of the 2X4's have to be cut to make this happen. Is there any reason that I can't make it 8'X8' if I can figure out the difference in the dimensions with CAD? I have a foundation/floor already built that is that size and it occurred to me that it would be time saving to use it.

thanks in advance!

There should be no problem, and you don't even need CAD.

Place 2x4 roof rafters into the ridge bracket. Lay the assembly down onto your slab, center the ridge on the center line of the slab and make sure that the 2x4 rafters hit the outside edge of the slab at the same distance from the center. ( So your shed will be straight and level ) Mark where you need to cut the 2x4s for the 8' width, and build away.

That's very clever and sounds simple enough! Thank you very much!

Yes you can. Most likely the reason they only did 7' wide is now it take more than 1 sheet of plywood for each roof half. That seem will make for a very weak roof with the framing on 32" centers. Hope you upgrade that to 3/4" to compinsate.

That makes sense! Ya'll always know things I don't, it's great to learn from you. I'll probably roof with metal if it is wide enough, I'm going to use it for an outside building. If not, I will be sure to refer back to this when I get there, I'm notoriously slow to finish projects!
