water seep question

We have damp spots on our property & after we logged near the house more damp spots appeared. These areas stay moist most of the year.

I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to try to dig out one of these to have a small source of water (our well is too deep for a hand pump.)

Any opinions of what might happen? If I dig a hole, I don't want to just end up with a damp hole!

Read this - its fascinating how he gets water from dry hills. We are going to be putting in 2 or 3 systems this next year.

Thank you so much! This is exciting - it sounds like it would work here. When we ran a water pipe to the new barn we ended up with a spot so wet for several weeks that we thought the pipe had sprung a leak.

I've been observing the wet spots for several years. Now to put them to work!
