I do believe in Animal rights, (Humane slaughter, Humane quarters for those that are production and/or feed animals- humane sea practices etc) IMO peta is not an animal rights group they are an extremist group disguised as an animal rights organization!

I do belong to EARS (Emergency animal rescue services) from my days of working in and with animal rescue and give them kudos over and over again. But Peta? Thanks but I'll pass LOL.

ok my opinion of peta. they are a terrorist organization, period end of sentence.

they spread hate, they terrorized the mind and they attack innocent people because they believe differently than they do. they have attacked and destroyed personal property lawfully obtained and used. in my opinion they should be placed on the same list as the various middle eastern groups that wish to destroy those who have different beliefs and values than they do.

I don't put much stock in them either but they did get some abuse stopped in a pig farm this week so I can't say they are all bad.

You forgot to say "Umm Umm Good, three times a day.

The "other" PETA people I don't have much use for. They use tactics they must have learned from terrorists.

PETA is behind alot of legislation around the country that will ultimately result in the end of "breeds" as we know it. They won't stop until the only dogs we have are Calcutta street dogs. They are against pet ownership, period. They are against animals for meat, period.
There's a big difference in animal welfare and animal rights. All creatures have a right to humane treatment, but there's alot of debate about what that is. Putting farmers out of business and making us all vegetarian for the sake of animal rights is crazy.

Those are my thoughts, too.

Sometimes I read the blogs on PETA's website, and I am sooooo tempted to talk about the chickens I raise and eat ROFL.

PETA is BAD NEWS. Their ultimate goal, as explicitly stated by founder Ingrid Newkirk, is to end ALL "animal exploitation" (aka USE of animals by humans for any purpose whatsoever). She even has admitted she wants an end to pet ownership and the very existence of "pets".

I'll leave it to you all to figure out where that leaves us veterinarians. I suppose we'll just get shipped off to the camps for "re-education".

I am a big fan of the idea of animal WELFARE, but I do not subscribe to the concept of animal RIGHTS. To me, rights and responsibilities are two sides of the same coin, and animals cannot be expected to shoulder "responsibilities".

Don't even get me started. I hate these people.

We breed and preserve several different species of heritage livestock. If people did not eat them, they would no longer have a purpose to exist. I can't imagine a world without animals which is what would happen if PETA was successful. They will protect them right into extinction.

Not saying I agree with PETA, but I'm sure glad I live in a country where folks can have their say and bring horrible practices to light. That's important.
