Uses for tallow - can I make chapstick with it?

Aside from candles and soap, what other uses does tallow have?

Is it possible to make a lip balm or chapstick with it? I found a basic recipe calling for olive oil, beeswax and a essential oil and was considering trying to substitute tallow for the beeswax, but I wasn't sure if it was along the same 'thing'

tallow will go rancid fairly quickly in a lip balm. it has, in the distant past, been used as part of recipes for lotions and such.

It's long been used as a lubricant for whatever you need lubricated...spinning wheels, gears, hinges that squeak, etc. It's also used as the "oil" for biodiesel by some folks....takes a LOT of it tho to make enough biodiesel to be useful. i suspect you could combine it with a lighter oil so it doesn't solidify at room temps to fill simple oil lamps.
