4-Wheelers and HEET as a gas treatment

About 3 weeks ago I filled up my Polaris 500 and for some reason I left the gas cap off of the gas tank. It was about 24 hours later that I noticed it and put the cap back on. Ever since that time (about 1 hour running time) it has been sluggish and lurches when I give it the throttle. Kinda sorta snaps and lunges. Not consistant, but you know the differance.

The question is--can I add a small amount of HEET gas treatment to take out the water/condensation in the tank and carb.?

Thanks

Cindy

Is it a 4 cycle? If yes, yes.

Find a product called Seafoam and use that instead, it is a much better product than Heet!

I would empty the gas tank by disconnecting the gas line and running the line into a gas can. Add fresh gas to the ATV.

Add Heet to the contaminated gas and use it in an older model car/truck/tractor with a carburator.

I agree, I wouldn't fool with that stuff, when it's so easy just to pull the line (by the gas shut off) and drain it.
Refill with fresh gas.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'll drain the gas.

Gas line antifreeze is a thing of the past anyway.

Ethanol does the same thing and it is already in nearly all gasoline.

Seafoam is great stuff. It stabilizes the fuel and reduces the possibility of phase-separation which can occur with ethanol blended gasoline. It also does a great job of cleaning up carbon deposits.

Ethanol blended gasoline can handle water intrusion much better then the mtbe stuff BUT if it reaches it saturation point and is allowed to sit it can experience phase-separation which is the separating of the ethanol from the gas which will lead to big problems. This has been causing big problems in the boating world.
