............you don't need to drill completely thru the post . For H's or corners take a piece of flat plate , say 1\4" x 6" x 10" , drill 4 x 1\2 inch holes , 1 hole in each corner . Screw the plate to the post with maybe 5 inch long lag screws , now take a piece of 2.5" OD pipe and weld too each steel plate ! Will last for years , I built lots of these when I could find old telephone poles as they make the best H's and Corners in the world . Don't cement them in , simply drill a 4 foot deep hole and Tamp them in . I always put pea gravel in the bottom of the hole , thought it might help . , fordy
