Hang it on your belt over your waders and put fish in there. You see pics of guys with them with strap across chest and roughly at waist below elbow, but they must be getting water and fishslime on them. If its a nice woven one, use it as a table decoration, or hang from the wall with some other outdoor sports stuff like you see in fancy catalogs & magazines, ie Adirondack Life. Sue

developed for flyfishing in areas where the fisherman stood in the water for hours at a time. You catch a fish, drop it into the creel thru the hole in the top, and keep on fishing. The fish stay relatively cool because of the basket weave, it can withstand being wet, and when it's full you know you have a full day's catch.

they're really just a basket with a strap for your shoulder so you can carry it over rocky terrain while getting to and from the stream. I believe you can also set it down in the stream sort of like a live well....but only if you don't have leather reinforcements on it...the leather will eventually get nasty and cracked.

I recently attended the funeral of my best friend's father, who was an avid fisherman. I went through the receiving line and noticed a creel on the head table, surrounded by lovely bouquets of wild flowers. It wasn't until half way through the service that it occured to me that the creel held his ashes. Very fitting for a man who loved trout fishing.

put a nice layer of grass in the bottom before you add the first fish... that's what my husband always does. Makes it easier to clean the creel when you're done.

Yup.

Wet the grass well and often and it keeps the fish nicely.
