Where to look for bulk grains

I am going to call around tomorrow to see if I can buy my grains, for animal feed, in bulk, cheaper than at the feed store. I am looking in the yellow pages but I'm not really sure what heading to look under for what I need. Grain Elevators? Grain Dealers? Feed Wholesale and Manufacturers? Anything else?

Yes grain elevators or in our area they are called just plain "Feed Mills" Co-Op
I have been buying my grain mixed now for quite some time and saving a HUGE amount of money compared to buying feed already mixed and in a 50 pound bag. The minimum they will mix is 500 pounds. The price for that is around 69. bucks although it does fluctuate will the price of corn and oats etc.

Why not buy direct from farmers? When I want corn or soybeans, I get them from the farmers when they are picking.Just a thought. Eddie

Buying from farmers would be good as long as they have what you need, and you have a way to store it. Often though, it needs to be dried before long term storage.

There are some mills around. My neighbor buys a lot of feeds from Coker in Goldsboro

Have you ever bought anything from the feed store in Jasper?

Don't know where in Tx you are, but I saw an ad for a feed mill in Burleson on the Dallas Craigslist a day or so ago.....

Of course, you are probably really, really far from it.......LOL! Maybe it will help someone!

Ask around for farmers in your area who grow the grain you want. Many will have grain in storage that they will sell you.

If you are on the Gulf Coast, between Houston and Corpus Christi, I can help you.

I am in Elgin, East of Austin about 30 miles. I only need oats and alfalfa pellets and maybe a little corn. The corn I could probably get from a local farmer. I don't know for sure, but I don't think we grow oats around here and definitely no alfalfa pellet farms. Guess I'll just call the grain elevators around.

They still do a little auto work but thats all. Have you ever been to Williams Farm and Garden Center on old cherry point road across trent river bridge about a half mile on left and one block over. They have a lot of all kinds feed and seeds and plants and farm hardware. Eddie

I have never used this site, but it looks interesting and it listed a bulk alfalfa supplier in Texas.
