Sandvik bow saw(not the knockoffs)

Okay, quite frankly I am looking for a good 30" bow saw, a Sandvik bow saw, however they don't make those anymore, just the cheap 30" saws not designed for serious lumber work, made in China.

Now at a fairly old hardware store, they do have ONE of the old Sandvik bow saws(it's even orange), but it is missing the blade.

So the question is, will the bow saw frame be damaged by not being under tension of a blade? You always see bow saws sold with the blade installed.

i used to work for disston we were bought up at that time by sanvik, they make GOOOD stuff. are you asking if the frame will be harmed by storage with out a blade, no. you should be able to find some band blade material and cut and punch holes for mounting

The reason youliked the Sandvik bow saw is because they were made in Sweden. As I stated in the "felling axe" thread, the best forestry equipment is made in Sweden like the Grunsfor-Bruk axes and Jonsered chainsaws. The Bahco (formerly Sandvik) bow saws are made in Sweden and a close second are the Fiskar bow saws (made in Finland). I believe you'd be happy with either brand.
