electrical codes and recycled wire

i replaced power cable from my breaker box to my kitchen stove because the line had been run outside and the outer sheathing failed. water ran into my breaker box and the ground wire windings around the cable were corroding. i scraped the ground wire when i striped the cable, but i now have the insulated wire...the cables that carried the load. they are 7 strands of what looks like 14 gauge copper and about 50 feet long. i see no breaks in the sheathing of either cable and was wondering if it is usable for electrical use? who knows if i may ever try solar, wind or hydro power, but i was wondering if code allows for the use of this wire, perhaps using conduit or something? if not, i may scrap it as money is tight right now. i hate to scrap $150 worth of useful wire for $30 scrap money.

Yes it is useable, but it is not code to use it. It doesn't have the same insulation qualities as normal wire (THHN or THWN). I might hesitate to use it for a new electrical service but for low voltage DC I'd have no problems using it.
