.............There was an article on the Washington Post website that told about the settlement . So I clicked on the URL and it takes you too where you signup when they reach a "Final Settlement" . There are four choices , 6 months of free credit monitoring , 9 months of free credit monitoring , 6 months plus a cash amount too be decided, or a cash only settlement amount . It's not large , really , the only requisite qualifyer is you have too have had some kind of loan or credit card over a stated period of time . Yhey explain it all at the website . Click on benefits too your left or just call them . , fordy

Oh, is Trans Union one of the keepers of our credit histories?????

Didn't have a clue either, of what this is all about - figured it applied to union members or some such; kinda sounded like an old airline.

The only people who come out ahead on these things are the lawyers. You get a couple of bucks or something similar and the lawyer makes millions. And I do indeed mean millions.

One of the things that need to be done away with in this country is the class action lawsuit. Nothing but a way to indirectly tax people and make lawyers millions.

Look at the fine print in some of the class action settlements and see just how much goes to lawyers and compare that to how much the people supposedly wronged get.

Got to agree with Quint on this one.

We were involved in a class action lawsuit several years ago. We had lost a few thousand dollars to a banks illegal practices. Our BIG settlement was a check for something like 94 cents! Most of the lawyers walked away with a few million, none walked away with less than a quarter of a million. Average check for the victims was in the neighborhood of $2 and some change.

We had just wanted the money they stole from us returned, it was the only reason we participated in the suit at all. We thought the check we received was a joke.

Whole process made me nauseous and wasn't worth our time.
