Eating to many tomatoes, That Possible?

I over heard a lady say her doctor told her to cut back on tomatos cause her potassium was to high or something. Didn't get to hear the whole story or reasoning. Anyways has anybody ever heard any any adverse affects from eating to many tomatoes? Also what would be to many?

Varies by the individual. My mom always said when she ate too many raw tomatoes she would get "acid bumps" on her skin.

The potassium thing is a kidney matter.

They are in the nightshade family, and I've always been told that they make artheritis worse. Could be, seems like mine is a lot worse during tomatoe season, but, I'll take it. I hate to see the tomatoes come to an end.

I imagine they would be bad for someone with an ulcer because there so acidy, but I don't know anything about the potassium.

To answer your question, too much of anything is bad for you. even drinking too much water can kill you.

My grandfather used to grow lots of tomatoes. Every summer, he would eat them for a few weeks, but then he would start to break out in a rash. After that, he would stop eating them until the next year (and his skin would clear up.)

Since my tomatoes have ripened and I've been eating them, my nightly bouts of leg cramps have stopped. In my case, it seems I needed the potassium!

My daughter gets "tomato diarrhea" from eating too many fresh ones. She loves 'em, but always eats more than she should.

Guess I've got a strong constitution as tomatoes have never bothered me in any manner and there have been times when I have eaten a lot of them. One summer I was eating from 8 to 10 pounds a week. Not sure if you would call that excessive but I sure didn't. Expect I ate more than that when I had a really large family garden in the mid 1980s. Would usually eat several plates a day of sliced tomatoes as well as handful upon handful of cherry tomatoes. Sweet 100s to be exact. Tomatoes----YUM!
