Sign making ideas

Hey,

Looking or some novel designs/materials for making temporary signs to advertise eggs. Some will stick in the ground (e.g. farm eggs 2mi. ->) some to attach to telephone poles, etc (free range eggs 555-1212).

Nothing needs to be fancy or flimsy, but just looking for ideas for materials and catchy lettering, without a lot of painting or stenciling.

I like the white foam sheets, but they seem too pricey. Anyone find any cheaps substitutes? How about lettering with an unsteady hand?

Any input appreciated.

Marty

We've made signs out of old barnwood, rough sawn lumber, and sawmill slabs. The lettering we've used was made out of 1/2 to 3/4" pieces of twigs nailed to the boards. Sometimes we've "framed" the sign with split pieces of 2" birch logs.
