Crop supplies.

Thought you might like to start the week off by reading some good news from my local newspaper.

"The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts farmers will produce the second largest corn crop and fourth largest soybean crop in history."

http://www.hutchnews.com/Todaystop/g...08-24T20-51-53

From the same article: "The Association of American Railroads estimates it will cost about $148 billion to expand rail lines over the next 30 years to handle increased demand. But the group says railroad companies can only afford to fund about 70 percent of that."

The speak of expanding rail lines and abandon lines that have been in use for over 100 years that are still needed IF they provided adequate service on them. Much grain is now shipped by truck because elevators can't depend upon rail car service. It has been like this for decades. Sounds like the railroad is planning on tapping us for 30% of $148 billion. Whee, isn't life grand.

All I had in this year was wheat and it just didn't amount to anything. Couldn't get beans in after the wheat because it wouldn't quit raining.
