Question Using The Prehn Method To Find Water?

Even though I don't live in Texas and didn't grow up there either, I remember my father using this method to find and utilize three different seeps on our 110-acre property in Oregon.

Have any of you Texans used this method successfully? How about in other areas of our country?

Appeared to me he's just capturing runoff water and routing it to where he wants it.

I've done that... in the upper part of my land, I've cut deep ditches in my road, and cut "wrong" ditches to redirect water, in the spring floods, into my lake, instead of into the rich folk neighbors lake... basically making an aboveground aqueduct...
