OK, How About Horseguards?

The tumble bug thread got me thinking bugs. I remember there used to be a great big hornet looking thing that buzzed around horses and mules and cows I think, that would attact horse flys and sting them to death and carry them off. I was more afraid of them than I was a snake. If they could sting a big horse fly to death that stingers got to be mighty big They used to call them horse guards. Anyone seen any lately? Eddie

I have seen tumble bugs, though not lately, also doodle bugs. But have heard of horse guard.
